Ontario reopened two of its most popular streams on January 29th, 2018 but one of them closed within a few hours that it was opened. The stream that has been closed already is the Masters Graduate Stream. The other stream, Ph.D. Graduate Stream, is still open but will be closing soon, so quickly apply if you are eligible for it. These two streams are so popular because the requirements are easy and don’t require you to have a job offer to be eligible. The province chose not to tell the number of applicants it accepted for this opening for both the streams. In 2017, these two were open for three times in February, May, and October, and like always closed in a couple of hours. The streams are so popular because Ontario is a popular destination for international students. It has universities like the University of Guelph, University of Toronto, and University of Western Ontario, which rank high in the world university ranks. Famous colleges in Ontario include George Brown College, Senega College, and Humber College. Also, Ontario is one of the eastern coasts of Canada, that makes it super convenient to travel to all around the world. Even though the Ph.D. Graduate Stream and Masters Graduate Streams not aligned with the Express Entry system, they are in themselves a pathway to Canadian permanent residency. Some changes made to the Ontario Immigration Act at the beginning of January 2018, which were effective these draws onward.

Eligibility criteria

The Ph.D. Graduate Stream requires you to be studying in Canada for at least two years, and the Masters Graduate Stream requires you to be studying in Canada for at least one year. Both should be full-time education. Applicants should submit their applications within two years graduating from their university. You’ll be required to give the English or French of Canadian Language Benchmark and score at least seven.
