US Tech Firms Get More H-1B Visas in FY19

Seven technology firms based in the US that included Amazon, Google, Facebook and Apple figured in the top recipient companies in Fiscal Year 2019 to get the of new H-1B visas.

Impressive Performance

Additionally, the US administration has a policy to favor American firms in hiring professionals in the Computer Sciences from India and other countries on work permits that have a short term. Tata Consultancy Services, of India was the third major recipient of H-1B visas during the year. Moreover the other firms in the list were Cognizant headquartered in the US, and Tech Mahindra, as per the new data provided by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services. The top ten companies had a 12% share in the 88324 H-1B visas given in the year.

USCIS oversees immigration in the USA and follows the Financial Year that begins in October and ends in September. USA annually issues 85,000 of these visas and Indian nationals get about 70% in it to get an employment by various exporters of IT services, and American corporations, dealing with technology.

A New Environment

Today there is an automatic suspicion on the companies that place candidates at sites of third parties in getting the visas. The effects of this favoritism on companies that provide consultancy services are that there is a disproportionate impact on many Indian companies. The data shows that Google received 2,111 H-1B visas, Amazon had 1,612 Tata Consultancy Services received 1,367 work permits and the share of Facebook was 1,132 followed by Apple at 991 to make the top five. Also it is seen that companies dealing with technology products get a preference for approvals in the matter of H-1B petitions. They also get a high share of visas, as per an observer in NASSCOM, a software lobby. The companies now accepting that the local tech firms and companies with a focus on products get an edge.

Favor towards American companies

The American technological companies got a high share in fresh H-1B visas during the current year. For the Indian as well as India-centric providers of tech services the rejection rate was alarming, for initial petitions, presented to the US administration.
