The government of Pakistan confirmed that the visa authorities have received Kulbhushan Jadhav’s family members’ visa application and will start processing it soon. Jadhav is an Indian death row prisoner. The 47-year old’s wife and mother have applied for the Pakistani visa. However, the official statement didn’t how much time the authorities will take to process their visa. On December 27, 2017, Pakistan rejected Indian government’s plea to provide consular access to Jadhav. The Indian death row prisoner is a spy according to the Pakistani government, and by getting a consular access, the Indian government can retrieve information about him. Pakistan submitted the reason to the International Court of Justice saying that consular access is not given to spies but only legitimate visitors. The Pakistani government feels that Jadhav entered their country to conduct suspicious spying activities. In April 2016, the Pakistani military court sentenced Kulbhushan Jadhav to death for espionage and terrorism crimes. In May India moved the International Court of Justice after getting Jadhav got the sentence. The International Court of Justice halted Pakistan’s action until the final verdict came out. Pakistan officials claim that he entered the country disguised as Hussein Mubarak Patel and was caught by security forces on March 3rd, 2016 in the Balochistan province.
