Indian American Scientist To Receive National Medal Of Science

The United States President Barack Obama will present the ‘National Medal of Science’ this week to the Indian American Scientist Rakesh J. Jain; he is a professor of Tumor Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Harvard Medical School.

The scientist of Indian origin will be awarded the prestigious award along other 16 recipients in White House on May 19. The awards national medal of science, and National medal Technology and innovation will be presented to the people who have made an outstanding contribution and produced marketable and innovative products.

The award presentation was planned on January 22 but later postponed due to adverse environment conditions. The award presentation will be held at White House on May 19.

Medal of Science is granted to the people who have made an outstanding contribution in Mathematics, Science and Engineering streams.

The Medal of technology and innovation is given to the individuals who gave the valuable contribution to improving the technology and workforce and US American quality of life.

Mr. Jain is from India and an alumnus from IIT Kanpur; the National Science Foundation administers the awards presentation.
