Australia enters free-trade agreement with the UK

Following its exit from the European Union, Britain has been offered a free trade agreement by Australia. The newly elected British Prime Minister, Theresa May, considered the move as "very encouraging" and that Britain’s exit from the European Union is working.

In a telephonic conversation with the new PM, her Australian counterpart Malcolm Turnbull requested for the immediate opening of a bi-lateral trade agreement between both the countries.

The new international trade secretary, Liam Fox, said that he is "scoping about a dozen free trade deals."

But experts opined that the UK cannot sign deals as it is a part of the European Union. It may take a longer time to negotiate on new deals.

The New Government is optimistic about success post the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union on June 23rd this year.
