According to the data published by the bookings platform ‘Student.com’, accommodation in the New York City is the most expensive for international students. The data also revealed that house rents in the United Kingdom and Australian cities are increasing at a rapid pace.
Student.com collected the information from its user base in 2016. Students paid $526 a week on an average to live in the Big Apple and $60 or more to live in the second most expensive city, San Francisco.
Angela Zaeh, Vice President of Student.com, has expressed, “We were surprised that London did not appear in the top five most expensive cities.”
“New York is one of the most expensive cities in the US, and it’s a big student destination with a large number of universities in a relatively small area,”
“If students want to be in walking distance of their university (and they often do), it will be expensive.”
California has the three most expensive locations, San Francisco, Berkeley ($459/week) and La Jolia in San Diego ($434/week).
London city has earned the fame of being infamous for high rentals with accommodation costing an average of $330 a week.
