New Student's Orientation at University of Macau

Founded in 1981, the University of Macau (UM) held its 35th convocation for the academic year 2016 – 2017. This year 1,500 students have taken admission in more than 130 Undergraduate, masters, Ph.D. and various other programmes.

While addressing the fresh batch during the orientation program, the rector at the institute, Wei Zhao, advised the students to make the most out of the next few years in the campus, utilize the facilities offered, take guidance of professors and maintain the high academic standards set by their seniors. Adding to the above he also said: “live a moral life, be considerate of others, give back to society, and observe the five virtues listed in the university motto.”

New students were given a brooch by the university with a number ‘2020’ inscribed on it which indicates the passing out year of the students. The number 20/20 also indicates to the perfect and clear vision that the students need to have regarding their future after completing their graduation.

With the aim to help students in adjusting on campus, the various faculties and departments are conducting a series of orientation activities including informative sessions and parties.
