From Oct 1 Indian Travelers can Enter Russia on Free E-visa for 8 Days

There is pleasant news for travel lovers. From 1st October Indians can travel to Russia by using the e-Visa.

Russia has embarked on the plan to increase the entry points from where most overseas visitors, can undertake their journey.

Its President, Vladimir Putin, has signed a decree, stating that these travelers can visit St. Petersburg and Leningrad, from Oct. 1, 2019, for a maximum period of eight days. It reads that the overseas citizens can enter/leave Russia by using the checkpoints in St Petersburg/Leningrad region, on a single-entry, using the tourist, business, and humanitarian visas, on electronic augmented documents.

As everyone knows, the e-Visa serves as an alternative, to the standard and paper-based visa, which is issued by an embassy. It is also an official document, principally issued online, by the Department of Immigration, allowing the entry and travel of a foreigner. It is easy and simple to obtain, and makes foreign travel totally hassle-free.

The persons, intending to visit these places, for eight days maximum, can use the e-Visas. As per an official of the Russian Embassy, the e-visas, are issued based on the decision of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Russia, when a foreign citizen, makes the request, by filling out the details, on the ministerial website.

Important facts to know about online e-visas:

  • Filling up the e-applications
  • There must be a four day gap before the intended date of visit.
  • The e-application will also have the digital photo
  • The validity of e-visa is for 30 days
  • The holder can use it to stay for 8 days
  • No other documents are necessary for receiving the e-visa.
Russia is increasing the places, where the people can enter, by using the e-visa. Additionally, it has allowed citizens of 53 countries, including India to enter,, by using the border crossing in the region of Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad airport, from July 1st, 2019. The Russian Foreign Affairs ministry, mentions the advantages of e-visa, in comparison to the regular visas:

  • An e-visa is issued within 4 calendar days, and these include bank holidays and weekends.
  • It does not need any invitations/confirmations.
  • It requires only filling the form of application on the website; there is no need to spend time for visiting the consular agency in the business hours.
  • The website never closes and also works 24/7;
  • Finally there is no payment to obtain the e-visa.
