New data shows that despite President Donald Trump’s very vocal opposition to illegal immigrant’s specifically Mexican immigrants, fewer Mexicans have been sent home under his rule in 2017 than under Barack Obama in 2016. The Mexican Interior Ministry’s numbers show that in comparison with January through November 2016, in which more than 200,000 Mexican immigrants sent back, but in the first 11 months of 2017 under Trump saw the deportation of around 150,000 of them, which is a whopping 26 percent reduction. The surprising thing here is that this fact is despite Trump’s open dislike of Mexican immigrants.

Even before he began his campaign in 2015, Trump had made his stand on Mexicans very clear. He is known to have posted several offensive Tweets on them, like one saying that the only thing he wanted with Mexico was to build an impenetrable wall to stop them from entering the country illegally. He compared Mexicans immigrants with terrorists and demanded and said that the border to be secured. And this was his view even before his Presidency started. Trump was apparently serious about the wall, and authorities are, in fact, testing a 30-feet wall to be built along 2000 miles of the border, to prevent illegal immigration and trafficking.

Although Trump’s stand may offend many people, the steps being taken might be good for the country. Whatever he has said and done, it has mostly been against to illegal immigrants and trafficking, so the measures being taken in the recent past may ensure that people migrate to the USA only through legal procedure. This reflected in the data compiled about the number of illegal immigrant Mexicans deported in the year 2017 as compared to those sent back to their home in the first 11 months of 2016, under President Barack Obama.
