Indian Commerce Ministry focusing on the service trade is planning to draft a proposal on comprehensive visa policy that encourages trade, tourism, healthcare and business services.
According to the information from the official sources, Commerce Ministry is in consultation process with other departments including home ministry regarding the proposal to ease visa norms for travelers, Medical Tourists and business people.
Indian Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia and the other officials have taken up the policy reform and working on it seriously.
One of the Commerce Ministry Official said that “We want relaxation in visa norms for sectors including healthcare, tourism, business and people coming for seminars and conferences. A note would be sent to the Home Ministry as it is their domain.”
The new initiative will boost India’s service trade.
India is missing a tremendous opportunity, by not concentrating on different segments of service trade. The Service sector of India is unable to grab the attention of the international travelers, whereas much smaller country in the Southeast Asia can attract millions of travelers every year.
Liberalizing policies based on the reciprocal system is the old concept; the more transparent easy process only could boost the service sector.
