Trump’s Immigration Plan will not Reduce the Number of Legal Immigrants

The President has approved efforts made by President Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner to overhaul the current Immigration system in America. According to a senior administration official, this will not change the total number of legal immigrants. Republican senators were briefed on the plan on Tuesday in the white house and were satisfied with it. Reporters were told by a senior administration official that this was the President’s immigration plan. However, he stated that some of the toughest issues, such as how to deal with the arrival of undocumented children generally known as “dreamers” are yet to be addressed by the proposals. Also, there may be some level of dissatisfaction by the Immigration hawks with regards to the total number of immigrants allowed entry. The official stated that the president believes the system is broken as such he is working very hard to restructure the system to what it should be. The Aims of the Proposal The proposed immigration system had two strands as disclosed by the official. The first is changing the Immigration system to one based on merit so as to favor those with skills over those without. The second is enforcing strict borders security by modernizing entry ports and tackle immediate crisis using barriers and any other method. He also said that unification of families still remains the aim. But this, however, ends the president’s hope of putting a stop to what is referred to as “chain migration”. The Republic Senators who attended the briefing were pleased with the outcome. Senator Martha McSally complimented senior adviser, Kushner and the White House for a substantial work. The President is using the promise of a border wall at the US – Mexico border as his reelection bid in 2020. Although, according to an official, the key to building the country’s economy, as expressed by President Trump is to attract the best and brightest talents.
