High Court Orders Govt. to Grant Long-term Visas to Eligible Pakistanis

Pakistani nationals who earlier couldn’t enter India on long-term visas with deficiencies will be now granted long-term visas. The High Court of Rajasthan told the state and central governments to issue long-term visas within a stipulated time of 45 days. The decision passed by Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur and Justice Gopal Krishna Vyas.

The division bench also expressed that is was unhappy about deserving Pakistanis not getting Indian citizenships since they don’t have the long-term visa. The court was summoned to make a decision about public interest litigation for a lengthy due discussion on granting Indian citizenship to Pakistani nationals. KL Thakur, an additional advocate general, will take up the issue seriously and make sure the government should process long-term visas on time. Pakistani refugees, who are a minority group, are focused through this operation.

There are tens and thousands of Pakistani refugees in India. To be eligible for Indian citizenship, they need to get a long-term visa. They are exploited for money and visas are given after a very long time. The Union government has given district collectors the power to issue Indian citizenship to Pakistani refugees if they have all the required documents. Over 2,418 rejected applications are eligible for the long-term visa after specific deficiencies removed from the list.

Pending applications will be cleared in 60 days

The state government has confirmed that all pending applications will be cleared in 60 days. Jodhpur district has over 14,253 Pakistani refugees. When the Amicus Curiae didn’t agree with the decision, the government reduced the deadline to 45 days. Out of all the 2,644 applications by Pakistani refugees, 2,288 come from the Jodhpur district of Pakistan. As per the constitution of India, foreigners residing in India for minimum seven years on Long-term Visa granted with Indian citizenship. We hope the deserving ones get their Indian citizenship soon.
