E-visa Program

Electronic visa program started by Brazil for the United States and a few other countries are finally working wonders. The Brazilian government saw international visitors spend $779 million in January 2018, which was only $14 million lesser than tourists did in January 2014 during the FIFA World Cup.

Along with the US, citizens of Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada will also be able to travel to Brazil using the e-visa, which costs less than the Brazil travel visa. For US citizens, the visa price was reduced from $160 to only $40. After applying for the e-visas, the applicant is expected to receive it in the mailbox within 72 hours. In January 2017, Brazil received 15,000 visa applications from American citizens, an increase of 87 percent compared to January 2016. When Brazil announced the e-visa, the government hoped to achieve an increase of 25 percent, but the results were far better.

The costs were reduced to make Brazil a more affordable destination, such that it would only cost $400 to $500 per person round trip. When issued, the e-visa is valid for two years on a multiple entry basis with the person only being able to spend 90 days in the country at a time. The only problem with the e-visa is that it is only for two years, while the earlier visa is for ten years. But you get only that much for getting a visa in barely three days while sitting in the comfort of your home. World Health Organization strongly recommends international tourists to get a yellow fever vaccination because it is still prominent in Brazil.
