On 1st November, 926 applicants who applied under the Occupation in-demand subcategory and the Express Entry sub-category were invited to apply for provincial nomination for the status of permanent residence in Canada.
This round of invitation is the highest ever in the International Skilled Workers Expression of Interest (EOI) in Saskatchewan. This system which began in July was established to manage the stream of applicants trying to get in through the Occupation in-demand sub-category and the Express Entry sub-category.
Occupation In-Demand Sub-Category
For the Occupation in-demand sub-category, 671 applicants
were invited, and the application with the least grade point invited in this category scored 61 points. It is the first time in four draws that a score as low as 61 points has ever been selected since the sub-category was moved to the EOI system.
This class is mainly for candidates who are not in the Express Entry Stream
and are qualified with a minimum score of 60. These candidates are expected to have had a minimum of one-year work experience in an Occupation in-demand in the province within the past ten years.
Express Entry Sub-Category
There were 225 invites issued in this sub-category, and the application with the lowest score had 60 points, making it the least score ever invited in four draws since Express Entry
The National Express Entry System of Canada
is linked to the Express Entry sub-category. It controls the stream of applicants in the significant economic immigration categories that exist in Canada; Canadian Experience Category, Federal Skill Worker Category
and Federal Skilled Trade Category.
Candidates on the Express Entry Stream
are required to have a minimum score of 60 on point assessments. They are also required to have had experience in a skilled work that is included in the list of In-demand Occupation of Saskatchewan. It is however not necessary for an applicant to have a job offer in Saskatchewan to qualify.
If a candidate under the Express Entry class gets invited to apply for PR from the province, his or her score will automatically rise by 600 in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
