In 2017, there was a temporary decrease in the number of people migrating to Australia, but it seems the number is increasing this year. According to the above chart obtained from Macquarie Bank in consideration to the data for overseas arrivals and departures for the month of August as presented by the ABS, yearly net overseas migration rate has risen lately in three-month annualized terms. The last time such numbers of immigrants were received was towards the end of the second mining boom that occurred in Australia this decade. The ABS, however, informs that the chart does not serve as an appropriate data bank for checking migration statistics. As seen in the chart, the release has been a long-standing chief indicator for slow migration statistics from the ABS. Demographic Statistics containing data for the June quarter of this year should be expected later on in December. The given data can stand as a premise to show a rise in the net overseas migration in Australia, thus probably pointing to an increase in the nation’s economy.
